smartmap

The smartmap graphic shows the political positions of the candidates in the form of a two-dimensional political map (left-right / liberal-conservative). The answers to the smartvote questionnaire serve as the data basis. Any weightings of individual questions have no influence on the calculation.

The positions are calculated using correspondence analysis, i.e. there is no prior allocation of questions to the two smartmap dimensions. The following document contains a detailed methodological description of how the smartmap is calculated.
